I don’t know about you, but I frequently have things I’d like to discuss with my colleagues and others in the profession. I have several close friends in the medicine, and I value those connections so much, but I’m always looking to build a wider and deeper circle of professional interaction. But, for me, Facebook groups for acupuncturists tend to be toxic and troublesome, and frankly I’m not interested in spending any more time validating Facebook’s business model.
Therefore, I’ve started a space on Discord, a popular chat app, for conversations about business, medicine and what it means to be a practitioner of this medicine. Any practitioner, student or scholar is free to join, and I’ll be carefully moderating it to eliminate aggressive, self-promoting and misinformation-spreading individuals. If we get enough folks there, I’ll start running little events and giveaways, and doing all I can to make it an active, positive space.
